Who so list to hunt
So this is totally about Ann Boleyn . What’s really
interesting is that, for its time, it doesn’t seem to be that well hidden
either. For example, the person hunting in this metaphor is pursuing a deer. In
Wyatt’s time kings had special sections of land zoned off exclusively for them
to hunt large game, you know, like deer. So this is clearly depicting his vein
pursuit of Ann Boleyn. Also “noli me tangere”, is latin which is awesome and a
through back to ceaser time, which is also a nod to royalty. Also a stag or
deer is Harry Potter’s patronous spirit. Bam.
I'm not sure how serious this post was intended to be since the underlying message of your post does interpret the poem, but I enjoyed this. Thanks for the laugh! I also like how you pointed out how the metaphor was surprisingly obvious. With a king as ruthless as Henry VIII, you would think Wyatt would be more cautious in his masking.
