At first one sees Margery as a victim. All this poor woman
wants is to serve he Lord. What could be so wrong with that? Well nothing is
wrong with wanting to be a good servant, but the manner in which she does so
causes major problems. Her entire “autobiography” should have been discredited a
long time ago. As a believer of the Christian faith I sympathize with the
situation and understand the circumstances she claims to have gone through,
however, there is no logic behind her stories. It is true that with in the
Bible God says that His followers will be persecuted for their beliefs, just as
Margery was, and I’m not saying that everything in her story was false. It is
also possible that she was visited in her dreams about things that God wanted
her do. I am not arguing that most of the things she described could have
potentially happened to her in some form or fashion. Yet what I am arguing is
that she is an over dramatic, attention starved woman who saw no other option
but to cry wolf over and over again. The reason I say her story should be discredited is because
the facts don’t add up. For example she explicitly describes “Therefore I must
be intimate with you, and lie in your bed with you. Daughter, you greatly
desire to see me, and you may boldly, when you are in bed, take me to you as
your wedded husband. . . “ I am aware that the Bible says that as Christians we
are the church and the church is his bride. But the context in which she
describes this “event” is beyond ridiculous! There is no proof to support any
claim that would involve Jesus in a sexual act. Also, the portion where she
descirbes that she wants to be a nun, she was already married. If God had
wanted her to become a nun and she didn’t get the memo till after she was
married, God would have found a way to use her for the Glory of His Kingdom in
a different way. According to my faith God knows we are going to make mistakes,
and not that that makes it okay, it’s just that even when we do, He is still
able to use us for His glory. Maybe this is just my opinion but that woman should have been
committed when they had the chance.
